Vanessa Olver is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant, USA who completed her articles at Deloitte and Touché in Durban, worked for Deloitte LLP in Chicago and furthered her career in a financial management position with P&O Nedloyd and Aviva plc. in the UK. She returned to South Africa to join Standard Bank as Senior Manager: Group Financial Accounting and Reporting before being promoted to Finance Director, Standard Bank Africa, responsible for 16 African countries.  Vanessa joined Business Connexion in August 2009 as Chief Financial Officer, and was also appointed to the Board of Directors. She had various different roles including running the Service Division the largest business unit from September 2011 until January 2014.  She then took on the role of Deputy CEO responsible for driving various strategic initiatives and was the Executive Head for Group Strategy, Group Transformation, Group Marketing and Group Mergers and Acquisitions.  Vanessa left Business Connexion in April 2016 and consulted back to Business Connexion until July 2017.  Vanessa in the interim started a Bed and Breakfast in Mtunzini on the North Coast in Kwa-Zulu Natal called Olivers Bed and Breakfast.  She then was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer for Rest of Africa at Absa and is also responsible for the decoupling program from Barclays for the 10 bank on the continent.


Vanessa encourages other women to strive for success, pursue their career goals and aspirations and be involved in community upliftment, therefore acting as a role model to many women within the organisation and industry, and has been recognised as Africa's Most Influential Women in Business and Government in the ICT sector in 2013.
